About Neal

Neal Harris is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology who has practiced psychotherapy for 40 years. His career blends clinical training with decades of work in holistic health and self-enrichment, and he has led workshops since 1985 while owning and directing a holistic education center for 25 years.

His training includes experiences in the United States, China, and India. In 1986 he was part of the first bodywork team invited to a teaching hospital in China to study Tuina, a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine and massage, and in 1991 he traveled to India to study with the meditation teacher H.W.L. Poonja (Papaji). For nearly four decades he has provided Reiki therapy and until recently taught Reiki for almost 30 years.

Neal is the author of Pocket Stress Manager & Labyrinth Guide and the relaxation CD Exit The Storm. His holistic work and media projects have been featured on national television outlets including WTTW, Fox, NBC, and the Discovery Channel, and in publications such as Better Homes & Gardens, Spa Finder, New Age Magazine, and Utne Reader.

In 1997 he originated the Earth-Wisdom Labyrinth, Illinois’ first permanent outdoor labyrinth in Elgin, IL, and has consulted on and created other public labyrinths, traveling fabric labyrinths, and finger labyrinths including his patented Intuipath® design. He has led labyrinth workshops for nearly 40 years and is a founding member of The International Labyrinth Society.

In private practice he assists people coping with life-affirming medical conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease as well as emotional concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and LGBTQ+ matters. To promote healing he integrates relaxation and meditation training, the Emotional Freedom Technique, Graphotherapy, and other targeted practices, and he explores integrative medical options along with the psychology and spirituality of illness and recovery. Neal also led a four-year national research study on the behavioral effects of the Intuipath design for children and adolescents with ADHD. Outside of counseling he is a Certified Pickleball Coach, teaching people to play smarter for the past 11 years.

Integrative Clinical Approaches for Online Care

Attachment-Based Therapy focuses on how early relationships shape current emotional patterns and interpersonal bonds. It helps people explore attachment needs, repair connection difficulties, and build more secure ways of relating to partners, family members, and themselves.

Client-Centered Therapy emphasizes the therapist’s genuine, nonjudgmental presence and active listening. This approach supports people in finding their own insights and strengths, and it is useful for concerns like self-esteem, life transitions, and relationship challenges.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) offers practical tools to identify and reframe unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. CBT is often applied to anxiety, stress, sleep problems, and mood difficulties, providing concrete strategies for coping and problem solving.

Choosing the right approach is part of the therapeutic process, and therapists work collaboratively with each person to match techniques to their needs, goals, and preferences. Neal’s background in both clinical and holistic methods supports a flexible, individualized plan developed together with the client.

Online therapy with licensed professionals offers practical benefits - sessions can occur by video call or phone, and therapists can also work through live chat or text-based messaging. These options increase scheduling flexibility, make ongoing support more accessible across distances, and allow people to continue care during life changes or busy routines.
